Example of Duties:
Produce simple and complex printed publications utilizing the Xerox Nuvera high-speed black and white production printer; and, the Xerox 770 Digital Color Press. This position is responsible for taking job requests, tracking and replenishing supplies, operating and performing light maintenance on various bindery and pre-press equipment; and, performing entry level desktop publishing/graphic design for a variety of applications. Possess skills to operate various types of bindery equipment for completion of printed publications. Equipment includes but is not limited to: power paper cutter, power stitcher, paper drill, folding machine, booklet maker and shrink wrapper and laminator. Evaluate when to make calls for service when necessary for repair of equipment. Create varying levels of graphic design for offset press, high-speed copy, large format, and digital output. Provide customer service and assist in Reprographics and Mailroom as needed. Ability to number sequentially, score and perforate using offline bindery equipment or offset press. Produce and prepare pre-press documents using a variety of software and equipment. Provide assistance to clients in the layout or graphic design of printed and digital publications. Experience in pre-press/desktop publishing/graphic design software. This includes but is not limited to: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; utilizing Macintosh and PC operating systems. Assist in the creation of presentation materials, large and small format, using a variety of materials; including matte board, foam core, chipboard, plotter paper, and laminate. Ability to scan original pieces of art for digital/printed output; and revise prepare and process digital files for printing from a variety of sources. Provide front desk customer support for all aspects of Reprographics. Assist on an as needed basis in all aspects of mailroom and courier function. This includes receiving and dropping mail at the post office, sorting; delivering postal and internal mail to various agencies using a courier van, and metering postal mail for the U.S. Postal Service. Employee will cross-train on the 1650 Offset Press (Duplicator). This involves the ability to set up, adjust, and print various publications using plastic plate output from an electronic image setter. Knowledge of PMS Ink color techniques and related theories will be learned. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) years of work experience in desktop publishing and pre-press preparation for offset press or high speed copy production work, and/or offset press operation, which included the use of equipment and software specific to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License at the time of hire.
