Job Requisition ID: 7803Overall Responsibility: Our Warehouse Associates are responsible for accurately performing warehouse activities related to the receiving, storing, and shipping of product while maintaining company standards in safety, security, quality, and productivity. These activities could require the regular use of powered material handling equipment, radio frequency devices, or computer systems.Primary Accountabilities:The Warehouse Associate performs routine and repetitive operations and processes such as:Responsible for the receipt and shipment of materials, supplies, and productsRecords received and shipped items according to established proceduresSorts, fills, packs, places, and arranges orders from warehouse stock, shelves, or bins according to written orderAssemble customer orders from stock, stage orders and/or conveys orders to packing station or shipping departmentChecks orders for exactness and neatnessEfficiently moves and loads product from staging and/or storage areas into trailersPerforms picking duties in an efficient manner that meets both company and customer standardsSeals, weighs, transports, stacks, and labels parcels with appropriate identification labelsHandles and maintains flow of materials and products in distribution areas according to established guidelinesMaintains company standards regarding safety and securityMaintains a clean, neat and orderly work areaAssists in maintaining the security of the warehouseParticipates in all required safety training and constantly adheres to all rules and regulations given during coursesComplies with all warehouse safety rules, OSHA regulations and SDS StandardsMay operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment once necessary company training is completedMust have the ability to learn the necessary skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors for the purposes of cross training and job assignments in all departmentsOther duties as assignedSKILLS & COMPETENCIES:Productivity - Takes responsibility for self and workload by completing projects/assignment within established department standardsQuality - Understands the importance of minimizing errors by maintaining accuracy of work within department standards/averages and adheres to all production procedures and reports and/or eliminates variancesAttendance - Maintains attendance points within limits and manages occasional time off effectively to ensure the needs/demands of the facility are metSafety - Demonstrates the importance of protecting company assets by adhering to safety protocols and promoting safe practices and reports unsafe practices, behaviors and conditions to Distribution Supervisor/Manager, or HR when appropriateDevelopment/Flexibility/Team Work - Assists others as needed, regardless of duty or assignment to ensure the demands of the facility are met and accepts job assignments with a positive attitude and treats co-workers with utmost respectCommunication - Takes the initiative to acknowledge issues/inefficiencies within the operation and provides possible solutions/suggestionsMust be able to read and write in English, count accurately, do simple math, and write legiblyMust be able to work overtime when business needs requireEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED equivalency required0-2 years of experience in area of responsibilityFamiliarity with material handling and radio frequency equipment is beneficialPrevious forklift experience preferredWorkforce Readiness Credential (WRC) preferredPhysical Requirements:Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time Must be able to lift/push/carry up to 50 lbs frequently Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold)Must be able to work from variable heights while wearing a safety harness while working in a position that requires that use of equipment operationRegular Schedule Second Shift 3pm-11:30pmABOUT US:Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (NASDAQ:HMHC) is a global learning company dedicated to changing people’s lives by fostering passionate, curious learners.
