The Editor is responsible for working on production of multiple branded projects, collaborating cross-departmentally and managing content creators. The ideal candidate will be a proactive achiever with a strong ability to work intensely and efficiently with freelancers. This person must have a passion for content marketing and the editorial process while having a solid understanding of digital new media. This position is focused primarily on text content production.
Responsibilities:
Work with a driven and highly motivated team to support content creation production and delivery of content to a wide array of partners on deadline.
Define editorial direction, create guidelines, source and manage qualified writers and editors, oversee project-based content production and perform other duties to support successful creation of high-quality content for our partners.
Research a broad range of subjects to create specialized content requirements in niche verticals.
Thoroughly review, assess and edit articles to identify editorial trends and ensure content meets quality standards and adheres to voice & style guidelines.
Work closely with various internal departments, including but not limited to the visual and design teams, to brainstorm, produce, package and deliver content.
Work closely with Account Management to stay on track with project deliverables.
Perform other editorial tasks and projects as necessary to support business objectives, including writing and editing content.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in journalism, English, communications or related field required; minimum of 3 years editorial experience (online, print or broadcast) and 2 years content marketing or other relevant experience.
At least 2 years Brand or Agency project management experience a big plus.
Strong writing and editing background, AP Style proficient; at least two years experience with editorial calendars and online programming preferred.
Solid understanding of visual and design formats, e.g., infographics, decision trees, checklists, listicles.
Microsoft Office proficiency (i.e., PowerPoint and Excel) required.
Experience working with freelancers, making assignments, tracking, providing feedback and managing invoices for payment.
Ability to balance several projects at once while working in a deadline-driven environment.
Flexibility with rapidly changing priorities and customer needs.
Experience with content management systems and online publishing tools preferred.
Familiarity with basic SEO concepts, including the role content creation plays in organic search traffic.
Highly organized.
