Perm role The Role The Digital Publishing IT Product Owner will bring industry expertise to leverage and exploit the Companys global potential in the digital publishing sphere. The role will also play a leading part in overseeing the IT enabled projects associated with the Company cross-channel digital publishing platform from definition to successful delivery. The individual will work closely with the Digital Publishing Manager / Business Stakeholders to further improve the existing digital publishing platform while helping to develop and drive new ideas that will enable strategic value to be realized. Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to Work with the Digital Publishing Manager / Business Stakeholders to define product vision and direction Analyze business processes (current state/future state) to propose automated solution(s) and or streamlined process, as well as identify unresolved business problems Conduct stakeholder interviews creating/ adding to personas and user stories to understand synergies with other products and how other users could benefit from the product in question Rank identified problems / issues to create a roadmap with immediate value creation, setting the product on a path for agile development; Work with business stakeholders and designer to produce visual prototypes & proofs of concept to ensure alignment and effective use of development resources Manage the development and implementation of associated digital publishing projects and ensure that the applications are providing business value and continue to align with business requirements Define acceptance criteria based on product vision; ensure all development tasks meet quality criteria through test planning, test execution, quality assurance, and issue tracking Build and groom product backlog with input from key stakeholders and work with designers and development team(s) to develop appropriate estimates in response to deliverables, change requests and fixes to be added to the backlog. Review and prioritize the backlog for sprint planning including coordination of dependencies with other related product owners. Lead Retrospectives, Daily Standups, and Demonstrations/Reviews Provide guidance and direction to the technology teams during the development cycle Participate in development of story acceptance criteria; ensure all development tasks meet quality criteria through test planning, test execution, quality assurance, and issue tracking Report status, issues, risks and change requests to relevant stakeholders on a regular basis. This will include reporting against budget, productivity, capacity, development effectiveness, and others as necessary Work with the development team(s) to develop appropriate estimates in response to work and change requests Experience in implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to determine successfulness of project Contribute towards discussions and negotiations related to service level agreements, as well as ensuring that the production application environment is operating within agreed SLAs Work with business stakeholders to produce early project documentation to feed into the demand management process, as well as and project team to assist in producing project documentation, including project requirements, change management, training, user guides Bring Digital Publishing business background and deep subject matter expertise to all the above decisions and activities The Candidate Bachelors Degree required, with a preferred field of study: Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration 3 years of Product Owner experience working directly with technology teams resulting in strong product management skills; ability to define and document product requirements 3 years of required experience that focuses on Mac and Windows publishing technologies, specifically publishing platforms (ie Censhare, Adobe, or K4) and user-level experience with applications for publishing, sharing, and managing digital content, as well as current in this evolving technology. Able to work collaboratively with project stakeholders at all levels and demonstrate sound facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills Able to contribute to the development of IT strategy in alignment with business strategies Proven track record of successful project delivery in a heavily matrix structure, as well as experience working in a global environment Experience in planning, managing and monitoring project budget (US $1M ), resources, costs and risks Experience in managing external vendors in software product development Experience in implementing KPIs to determine successfulness of projects Excellent written / oral communication and listening skills, able to clearly articulate ideas, solutions and recommendations to all levels of staff via presentations, walkthroughs and one-to-ones Must have good organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills able to undertake several engagements concurrently and appropriately set priorities, and be highly organized Able to decompose / simplify complex ideas and present these back to the customer in a way that they can understand and at an appropriate level of detail Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity A proven track record of setting and exceeding aggressive goals; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience, and judgement Must demonstrate a professional approach to problem solving. This includes being able to anticipate problems, and recommending solutions based on incomplete or missing data, as well as take ownership of problems and issues and seek to proactively resolve Demonstrate the ability to innovatively solve business problems, exercising pragmatism where appropriate, and be confident to challenge the status quo and any pre-conceived notions of the causes of the problem and possible solutions Demonstrated ability and willingness to roll up sleeves and execute to get the job done Based out of the Companys New York office with some international travel required
