We are currently seeking an Assistant Editor to provide administrative and editorial support to an Editorial Director and an Executive Editor within the HarperWave and Harper Imprints.
Performs, under minimal supervision, administrative and editorial duties including correspondence with authors and agents, setting up appointments, and managing supervisors\u2019 calendars.
Logs, tracks, and reads submissions and assists in returning rejected manuscripts.
Drafts contract requests, p&ls, and researches competitive titles.
Monitors production schedules for supervisors\u2019 books, maintains communication between production, design and managing editorial to keep books on schedule.
Acts as a liaison with publicity, marketing, legal, and finance departments.
Drafts jacket copy, flap copy, catalog copy, fact sheets, and other materials as needed.
Prepares manuscripts for transmittal (including creating art logs for 4-color books) inputs text corrections, transcribes edits, proofreads passes.
4 year college degree
Minimum of one year relevant experience
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Excellent communication skills
Exceptional writing skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must have a strong appreciation for health & wellness, food, sports, pop culture and current affairs
