Pre-Press Production Assistant, Crown Publishing Group

The Crown Publishing Group is a subsidiary of Random House that publishes across several categories including fiction, non-fiction, biography, autobiography and memoir, cooking, health, business, and lifestyle. Its imprints include Crown, Crown Archetype, Crown Business, Crown Forum, Hogarth, Three Rivers Press, Clarkson Potter, Potter Craft, Potter Style, Broadway Books, Broadway Paperbacks, Image, WaterBrook/Multnomah, Harmony Books, Rodale Books, Watson-Guptill, Amphoto Books, and Ten Speed Press.

The Pre-Press team with the Production department, seeks a Production Assistant to support its day-to-day and strategic tasks.

Responsibilities include:


* Typesetting/Page layout in InDesign

* Color correction and retouching via Photoshop

* Digital support for the Production department

* Working with Designers and Printers in creating final printer-ready PDFs

* Light administrative duties



The ideal candidate will have:


* Some experience designing for books and/or magazines

* Office experience, preferably in publishing industry

* Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (version 6 or later)

* Ample experience and comfort with typesetting in InDesign

* Must be deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with different team dynamics



Salary for this position is $40,000. Full-time employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.
