The Editorial Coordinator provides a wide range of support to the senior editorial staff and the entire book-publishing team, coordinating the flow of information to other departments of the Press, the HBR Group, the Publishing Corporation, and important external Press contacts including authors, agents, reviewers, and endorsers. The Editorial Coordinator also serves as liaison with the commercial team, and with production. 
Key Tasks
Creating and maintaining editorial records for titles under contract
Maintaining and updating editorial databases
Preparing and tracking contracts
Managing the advance royalty payments to authors
Managing the peer review process for manuscripts under consideration, including honoraria for reviewers
Preparing portions of the Editorial Review Board dockets
Preparing final manuscripts for turnover to Production
Managing the endorsement quote process with authors
Coordinating periodic mailings to authors and other key contacts
Managing the distribution of Press titles to authors, agents, endorsers, reviewers, and other key contacts
Responding to unsolicited proposals and manuscripts, and other routine editorial inquiries; and providing other assistance
Key Responsibilities
Provide editorial support to senior editorial team, working with editors and authors on aspects of book development such as acquisition, peer review, and endorsements
Request CIPs and manage process with Library of Congress
Request copyright and manage process with Copyright Office
Order books as needed, for either office or others
Request checks
Oversee mailings
Manage the peer review process
Manage the endorsement process
Create and maintain contract files
Facilitate manuscript turnovers
Schedule meetings and distribute materials for acquisitions, docket meetings, and list launches 
Highly organized, attention to detail
Strong written, oral, interactive communication skills
Sharp editorial instincts and desire to learn
Highly motivated, with initiative to take on and conceive improvement projects
Keen interest in ideas with implications for the real world
1 year’s experience in book and/or long-form business publishing preferred
BA or equivalent
