Requirements

Macmillan Learning is seeking an Editorial Assistant for the Psychology group. The assistant will provide support to several editors who develop print and digital content for the college classroom, helping them with various administrative and editorial tasks while gaining exposure to the editorial function within educational publishing.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist editors with project planning, development, sales, and marketing

• Coordinate review programs and surveys to solicit instructor feedback on new projects and revised editions

• Oversee the development of ancillary content such as instructor’s manuals, workbooks, assessment, and homework assignments

• Format and prepare manuscript for production

• Provide research assistance on content, permissions, or the competitive landscape

• Correspond with authors, instructors, and sales reps

• Perform clerical tasks such as running reports, processing invoices, handling mailings, and filling out project paperwork and logs

• Provide other administrative support as needed

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Close attention to detail

• Ability to set priorities, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

• Must bring a positive, can-do spirit to the role

Experience Needed:

• Teaching or tutoring experience a plus

• Previous experience and/or internships in educational publishing a plus

• Previous experience working in customer outreach, such as working in a call center, retail, or waiting tables, a plus

Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor of Arts degree
