The Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923 and a noteworthy roster of past award recipients including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates. Students in grades 7 through 12 can apply in 29 categories of art and writing for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities.u003C/fontu003Eu003C/pu003Enu003Cfontu003Eu003Cpu003Eu003Cbru003EEach year, the Alliance partners with more than 100 regional affiliates across the country to celebrate regional Award recipients and showcase their work. In areas where local partners are not available, students participate through Region-at-Large, which is managed by the Alliance's national office in New York City. The Alliance's national office also manages the New York City Scholastic Awards program. Top-level regional award recipients have their work considered for national-level recognition.
