It’s time for Back to School within the EdTech industry. This is the time of year McGraw-Hill Education brings on content and curriculum experts who share our passion for education. As we start the fast-paced, back-to-school season, we need Academic Designers who will dive in to their role and develop content from initiation to implementation. Academic Designers will partner with their team to create imaginative solutions that help students and teachers succeed.
Your Contribution To The Team Includes
•Demonstrate strong understanding of elementary (PreK-5) Reading/Language Arts pedagogical issues and/or strong Digital development and production background
•Ability to create, visualize, and layout content for various delivery formats and classroom settings
•Highly organized, goal-oriented, and collaborative
•Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery
•Excellent communication skills with strong verbal and writing and presentation proficiency
•Displays and acts with initiative, integrity, and professionalism
•Additional advantages (optional):
oClassroom teaching experience and/or of eLearning
oKnowledge of CMS authoring and Learning Management Tools
oFamiliarity with cutting-edge software and hardware trends, especially as they relate to Web 2.0 and Social Networking applications
oExcellent communication skills, analytical and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills
oDiverse computer skills, including MS Excel and Word, multimedia tools, XML, HTML and
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
•Subject matter expertise in Reading/Language Arts and English Language Development for primary grades, including foundational skills (phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics, structural analysis, word automaticity, fluency)
•Ability to create and visualize content for various delivery formats and classroom settings
•Highly organized, goal-oriented, and collaborative with ability to mentor and lead a small team of Academic Designers
•Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery
•5 years of editorial experience
•Teaching experience an advantage
•Extensive understanding of standards, including CCSS – the framework, curriculum development against CCSS, alignment and assessment development across numerous states for customization, as well as the ability to unpack various state standards and analyze the vertical alignment of standards across grades, Prek-3.
•Displays and acts with initiative, integrity, and professionalism
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar and a strong attention to detail
•Effective organizational and time management skills; productive, efficient work habits and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and exhibit flexibility
•Diverse computer skills, expert-level in MS Office suite, proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and K4/InCopy markup
•Working knowledge of eLearning and digital object editing tools, HTML and CMS (Content Management Systems) – a plus
