This position supports GBS's content translation team. The managing editor for content translation (Arabic/ English) is responsible for translating, reviewing, proofreading, editing and researching assigned content. Typically handles translation, update, and review assignments and special projects. Ensures that translated content meets the highest quality standards by following style and procedural guidelines. Accountable for factually, stylistically and grammatically correct content, and timely delivery of translated or reviewed content. Continuously improves content categories. Works collaboratively with all members of the content team and other functional areas. Manages time and sets priorities to meet project needs. Performs other duties as needed.
The Managing Editor requires a Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field. Must have at least five years of publishing experience and demonstrated leadership abilities for managing people, projects or both. Proven track record for managing strong editorial content for a variety of traditional or new media and digital formats. Must possess knowledge of or experience with search engine optimization strategies and tactics, consumer-driven health care, and user-centered design for digital content assignments. Preferred for all assignments. Proven track record for analyzing and accurately synthesizing actionable information from medical literature, making strategic and deadline-driven editorial decisions, project management, and for ability to effectively coach staff and thrive in a team environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with a certificate in Translation awarded by the American Translators' Association or a similarly recognized institution, or a graduate degree, Spanish proficiency, experience with translation software and translation memory. Background in health care interpreting and translation or subject matter expertise in health is also preferred.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,917, based on a full-time position.
