The Digital Publishing and Publications Manager supports CSIS's publications process as part of the Office of External Relations. CSIS publishes hundreds of digital and print reports and shorter pieces annually and this position supports a critical aspect of the Center's work. This position will work closely with the Chief Communications Officer and Director of External Relations and other members of External Relations and the iDeas Lab to advance digital dissemination strategies, opportunities, and systems, while also supporting some traditional publication processes. Additional core responsibilities include providing project management, editing, layout, and administrative support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop process for and manage digital publications and products, in close collaboration with senior ER leadership, including to: Identify ways to improve and advance CSIS digital publications and dissemination;
Develop, implement, and manage a digital publications and distribution strategy;
Provide digital content strategy support and recommendations;
Integrate existing traditional publications strategy and systems with new digital strategy, including for CSIS website and iDeas Lab products.
Manage and implement day-to-day coordination of publications and publication systems/processes, including to: Track CSIS publications and related database (upcoming, in process, etc.);
Serve as liaison with CSIS program staff and coordinate with publisher, freelancer(s), and vendors;
Post reports on CSIS website per best practice and established standards in collaboration with the webteam;
Manage administrative tasks, including updating SOPs and accounting.
Copyediting and layout of digital products and shorter pieces, including: Serve as primary copyeditor (lead and oversee) for digital products and shorter pieces, including for CSIS website and iDeas Lab products;
Regularly train CSIS junior staff on publications process and CSIS style;
Work closely with CSIS designers to develop digital layout of publications on CSIS website and iDeas Lab products;
Lay out digital reports, including CSIS briefs and other web reports, per styles and design developed (using InDesign).
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors' degree in a relevant field.
Minimum two years of experience in publishing or a related field.
Digital publications experience and knowledge of contemporary digital publications.
Familiarity with print publication processes and file preparation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word and PowerPoint).
Familiarity with InDesign preferred; willingness to be trained on new and applicable software(s) required.
Familiarity with other creative, web, and/or digital technologies a plus; and an openness to adapting to new technologies.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wider variety of partners and constituents, operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities.
Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills.
