Manage the advertising program and production and design schedule for seasonal catalog for a publishing organization.
Manages the production and design of the seasonal catalog including gathering all related materials from each department at the press and overseeing the freelancing of copy. Researches advertising opportunities and creates individual advertising campaigns for all new UT Press titles. Negotiates advertising rates and placement within journals, magazines, and online media. Creates and monitors advertising and freelance design budgets. Ensures that invoices are processed in an appropriate and timely manner. Partners with Marketing Manager to plan and create advertising materials for each advertising campaign. This includes selecting titles for each design, choosing the appropriate written copy, and supervising any freelance design work.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in publishing or bookselling. Minimum five years experience using Adobe Suite and InDesign Must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented, with the ability to track and manage several parallel deadlines. Should be an excellent problem solver and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to seek out new and relevant advertising partners and negotiate and secure ad placement in magazines, journals, and several digital media outlets. Should be outgoing, highly motivated, creative, personable and have the ability to get along with diverse range of personalities. Must be able to manage the advertising details for up to 100 books per year. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Candidate should have a recent portfolio of graphic design work. Candidate must feel comfortable working with moving deadlines and tight schedules and remain professional under pressure. Candidate will create and monitor advertising and freelance design budgets, and also manage all invoice processing and payments in a timely manner. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience using Filemaker Pro and Acumen Publishing Software. Five years of experience in scholarly publishing. Experience working with authors.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
