ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for planning and implementing original and compelling publicity campaigns for a diverse list of cooking, health, parenting, sports, practical business, and self-help titles (hardcover and trade paperback formats) each season through traditional and online media outreach and author events
Create galley letters, press releases, author Q&As, and media lists with a goal of securing national, regional, and local media in print, broadcast, and select online outlets
Orchestrate and oversee radio and TV interviews, off-the-book-page coverage, reviewer outreach, and select author appearances at bookstores and other appropriate venues
Communicate with editorial, marketing, sales, and subrights as part of a cohesive publicity effort for each title
Strengthen and develop media contacts in addition to establishing and maintaining strong relationships with authors
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Minimum of 3-5 years of publicity experience with extensive media contacts, a well-rounded knowledge of trade book publishing, the ability to assemble all logistics of a multi-city book tour, and a strong interest/background in the type of books Lifelong publishes
Superb verbal and written communication skills for interactions with media, authors, literary agents, and in-house colleagues
Familiarity with—and solid contacts at—a wide variety of print and broadcast media outlets
Effective organizational and project management skills and proven ability to work well under pressure
A self-motivated, hands-on, creative, results-oriented individual with strong initiative and judgment and the ability to multi-task and attend to details in a fast-paced environment
The ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively
A leader who possesses a style that will create trust and confidence
