The Editorial Services Associate (ESA) is primarily responsible for helping authors through the editorial services process as quickly as possible. The ESA may answer an author’s editorial inquiries or direct general questions to the right departments. The ESA will work under the direction of the director of editorial services.



Key Responsibilities:



Scheduling and Trafficking


  • Track and follow up with authors after an editorial service has been performed.
  • Manage titles going through editorial services process.
  •  

Author Assistance

  • By phone or email, answer general questions, research complaints about title-specific editorial services, and track all communications through Salesforce.
  • Assist authors with completing any required editorial forms or questionnaires.
  • Pass along white papers, guidelines, and other editorial information to authors, as needed.
  • Advance problematic or difficult author questions to the editorial services coordinators, editorial management.
  • Direct authors wishing to purchase editorial services to their consultant in the sales department.

Administrative

  • Perform quality assurance checks on editorial services, as needed.
  •  




Key Qualifications:


  • High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred (preferably in English, linguistics, communications, journalism, or a related field).

  • Two to three years’ prior customer or administrative service required.

  • Book editing / publishing experience preferred.

  • Superior knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the internet.

  • 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. core schedule with flexibility for start and end times. Additional hours and/or overtime depending on the needs of the business may be required.
